Boating
My love for boating grew out of my relationship with my father and the time I spent as his first mate. He was older when he had me, and boating became one of the ways we bonded. Before I was 10 years old, I was already washing boats, scrubbing the deck, and cleaning out the bilge. Some of my best memories are nights spent in marinas, listening to sailboat lines tap against the mast and make those quiet clanging sounds. It was peaceful, and being rocked to sleep on a boat is still one of the best kinds of sleep I know. I have been all around Florida, along both the East Coast and West Coast, especially near Fort Myers and the Sanibel-Captiva area. I have also traveled on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway and the Mississippi River. My father traveled all over, and one day I would like to build a map that shows his adventures.
